Call & Answer

Because it was the fall General Conference of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, we had the General Women’s session!

I love the opportunity to hear words, from God, specifically for the women of the restored church of Jesus Christ.

Most of the talks, like all General Conference, the talks are uplifting and feeds the soul.

President Russell M. Nelson, our living prophet, issued four calls to action to the women.

  1. participate in a 10-day fast from social media and from any other media that bring negative and impure thoughts to your mind.
  2. read the Book of Mormon between now and the end of the year
  3. establish a pattern of regular temple attendance
  4. participate fully in Relief Society

I started reading the Book of Mormon and did the social media fast.

Starting the social media fast, I felt isolated and mad. I didn’t know WHY I had to do it, but I knew I had that desire to follow the prophet and truly believe in Elder Uchtdorf’s words: “I think God knows something we don’t—things that are beyond our capacity to comprehend! Our Father in Heaven is an eternal being whose experience, wisdom, and intelligence are infinitely greater than ours.”

The isolated feelings melted away through turning to God, in prayer or in the scriptures, instead of social media.

Don’t get me wrong, this isn’t going to be an announcement of stopping all social media in my life. However, I love the freeing feeling during this fast.

Not to mention, as I did the fast, I received more revelation from Heavenly Father than ever before. I knew exactly what things to delete from my feeds. I knew exactly what Heavenly Father calls me to be.

God is so so good.
